Last Man Standing season 7 will likely recast Molly Ephraim soon

For those who love Last Man Standing and have not heard, the series, now on Fox, is looking to recast Molly Ephraim. She had played Mandy from the start of the series, but she alongside Flynn Morrison (Boyd) are not going to be coming back to the show.

As for the reasoning why, Ephraim has not commented on the subject and it feels a little reckless to rush to a conclusion. If she or the producers want to address that down the line, they can.

What matters at the moment is trying to see just where the series is going to be going from here. Last Man Standing, with it being a half-hour comedy, can start filming a little bit later than some of the other series that are premiering this fall. For those wondering just how long we’re talking about here, production will most likely start around the middle of August. That gives producers a few weeks to find a replacement — odds are, they want to lock someone in at least a week or two before filming starts so things aren’t altogether chaotic until the very last second.

As you would imagine, recasting a series-regular character on a long-running series is not the easiest thing in the world to do, especially if your character was as popular as Epharim’s was among Last Man Standing fans. If we were them, what we would prioritize here, first and foremost, is finding someone with great comedic timing and a sense of humor. We know that it makes sense on some level to find someone who bears a strong physically resemblance to Molly, but if you can’t find that particular person we wouldn’t stress it too much. As long as the lack of resemblance isn’t a distraction, they will be fine.

Also, we just hope that whoever the show casts is someone who is fairly amiable and rolls with the punches. They’re going to know that they are going into a rough situation replacing a cast member who is very much loved by most of the show’s fans; with that, they have to find a way to be endearing and also determined so that the initial blowback from fans disappointed about Ephraim’s exit doesn’t devastate them on some level. It’s going to be a rocky transition; that’s the nature of this business.
