12 Monkeys series finale spoilers: The end of the road is here

12 Monkeys -

After four seasons and plenty of surprises, the 12 Monkeys series finale is coming on Syfy next week over the course of two hours. That in itself is somewhat different from the remainder of the series, which has aired over the course of three-episode blocks. That has happened to make the show a little bit more cinematic; however, we imagine that for some, it’s made it a little more challenging to watch every week. Three hours a week, especially on Friday nights, is rather tough.

This difficult airing struggle has been reflected in the ratings, as the series is barely averaging a 0.1 rating and slightly over 280,000 viewers in live viewing every week. We do wish that the show had more of a chance to go out with big numbers, but at the same time, we are rather grateful that it is getting any sort of big opportunity to have a proper ending at all. It does feel like the series could not be going out any bigger if it tried. What are higher stakes than the fate of the entire human race? We’re also going to see some of the show’s signature style as Cole ends up having to do whatever he can to help his younger self.

Take a look at some of the first details on the 12 Monkeys series finale below — just don’t expect the network to release a whole lot more information than this.

Season 4 episode 10, “The Beginning Part 1” – “The final battle against the Witness as the fate of time and mankind hangs in the balance. All the pieces finally come together to mark the end of the beginning.”

Season 4 episode 11 (series finale), “The Beginning Part 2” – “When all hope is lost, Cole must complete his cycle so that his younger self will one day arrive at the end with the answer.”
