Salvation season 2 premiere ratings slip on CBS

Salvation season 2 episode 1

Based on some of the first Salvation season 2 ratings that we’re seeing over at CBS, signs are looking like there’s not much hope for the show’s future.

On Monday night, the drama series debuted with just a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic coupled with around 3.3 million viewers. At least in the demo, this ties the lowest rating that we’ve seen for the series to date. While we are worried about the show’s future at the result of that, it’s certainly far too early to think about this and this alone. There are still many episodes to come this season and with that, we’ll circle back to some of the ratings in due time.

The one thing that we’re probably the most worried about when it comes to the show’s future is just that there isn’t a whole lot of built-in support with the show at the moment. There isn’t all that much of a lead-in for it and beyond that, Elementary afterwards isn’t making a huge imprint in the numbers, either. It would have probably done better were it airing after Big Brother or some other entry this summer, but we certainly do understand the network’s desire to potentially give a few other series a shot to perform with that lead in.

What Salvation really needs at this point more so than anything is a moment or two that gets people talking, and not just some of the viewers who are watching regularly. The series needs to have a moment that is either so timely or shocking that it gets some other people aware of the series who haven’t heard of it. It’s that lack of exposure that is hurting the show more than anything else.
