Code Black season 3 ratings: The most remarkable part of its run
One of the things that we have talked about on many occasions as of late is the performance of Code Black in comparison to many other shows on Wednesday night. It has routinely dominated in terms of total viewers. While it may not have gotten too many wins in the 18-49 demographic, succeeding in total viewers is nothing to sneeze at.
What we probably have not given the show enough credit for is the tremendous amount of retention it has for season 3 in comparison to season 2 — at least in this particular measurement. Think of things in this way. Season 3 of Code Black is, at the moment, bringing in almost 5.78 million viewers on average. That’s down less than 4% from the average for season 2.Think about that for a minute. The third season hasn’t had much in the way of a lead-in for most of its run. Yet, it is still finding a way to succeed. It isn’t receiving the proper promotion, and it certainly isn’t receiving a lot of attention outside of core CBS viewers.
We are going to continue to hold, somewhere in the back of our mind, that there could be a Code Black season 4 renewal somewhere else. We just want it! Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much public traction on that front and realistically, we have to expect that season 3 is going to be the end. Who said this a few times over, but it feels as though the dream would be to move the show over to ABC, giiven the obvious ABC Studios connection that is there. That’s just what makes the most sense. However, we also admit that we are not network employees and they may have different limitations and interests. Code Black, after all, is another medical drama, and ABC certainly has plenty of those already.
Rest assured that if we do hear more news regarding the future of the series, you will be the first to read about it at our site.
