Succession episode 4 preview: Approaching a gala

Want to know what’s coming on Succession episode 4? We’re gearing up for another big episode next week and judging from some of the early indications that are out there, signs point towards this hour giving us a sense as to what preparing for a foundation gala is like. With any major corporation, these are a huge part of the everyday way of life. They help to bring in wealthy donors, to recruit potential future guests for some of your programming, and to network in general. There’s a good cause behind it, but there are certainly many a wealthy person who often attends these functions for fairly selfish reasons.

In general, signs point towards Succession episode 4 being an important one when it comes to dealing with major controversy and also better establishing what this world is really like on a day-to-day basis. Taking on more duties in the industry is one thing; figuring out how to maintain them is something rather different altogether.

The company’s annual foundation gala fund-raiser is approaching, so Kendall polishes up his speech while enlisting an on-air personality from the Waystar’s ATV Networks to accompany him. Meanwhile, Shiv tries to minimize damage from a sordid photo that threatens a client’s political future; Tom inherits a “virus” from his predecessor in the parks and cruises division, and shares a disturbing file with Greg; and Logan makes a mark on his return to the office.

How are the ratings?

The second episode of the show one week ago did drop from the premiere down to around 490,000 viewers in live+same-day estimates. Is that bad news? Not necessarily. Instead, it’s predictable news more than anything else. Shows often fall in the ratings from their season premieres and the most important thing here, clearly, is that this is a show that the network has a lot of faith in. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have announced a renewal this far in advance.
