American Horror Story season 8 to be Murder House – Coven crossover
This fantastic announcement was made in a post on Twitter from show executive producer Ryan Murphy, who also said that “witches rule this September.” It’s a surprising announcement mostly because everything we’d heard beforehand suggested that the crossover would be happening next season rather than this year — yet, we’re more than happy to get it a little bit early.
Does this change the castings that we’ve heard to date? There are a lot of questions that we’re left to wonder and, at least for now, there aren’t many answers.
Doing a full crossover season is in some ways a risky endeavor, largely because of the fact that the first and third seasons aired many years ago. You’re banking on the fact that viewers of those seasons will come back for more, and that’s risky just because a part of the appeal of this franchise is that viewers can jump in at the start of a given season and not have any knowledge of anything that happened before.
With that being said, here it makes some sense to try something different, especially since the ratings for the series have slowly declined over the past few years. We just wonder for now how many characters we’re going to see brought back and also how many people from the first and third seasons are available. Obviously there are some franchise mainstays like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, but what about everyone else? We also imagine that there could be a few new characters brought in for the sake of filling out the story — at least potentially. We will have a chance to learn in due time.
