How Shadowhunters – Teen Choice Awards nominations can help save series
There is some big news that is out there within the world of the Teen Choice Awards — the first TV nominations are in! The awards show officially revealed the first wave of nominees on Wednesday and they include everything from network shows to cable to many different genres.
How we want to frame these particular nominees this year is quite simple: Through the lens of Shadowhunters. We don’t mean this as disrespect to any of the other shows nominated — there are some great ones — but it absolutely feels right now like this is the show that needs the love the most. Shadowhunters is currently canceled right now, and one of the best things that can happen with it is that it can leverage some of these nominations into awards and then also potential wins. You want to try and show the parties involved with the cancellation, if possible, how big of a mistake that they made in canceling you. You want the free publicity of speeches that can be used to help keep the series alive. We have full confidence that the showrunners will do their best to come up with a worthy ending if they have to … but why should they have to? It’s another cause for fans to fight for on social media.
To make matters even better for Shadowhunters fans, there are a lot of different categories below that they can fight for. You’ve got the show itself, Matthew Daddario, Katherine McNamara, Emeraude Toubia, and Dominic Sherwood all nominated. It would be nice to have the full cast on the list, but maybe we’ll be able to see some others (we really want more love for Harry Shum Jr.) in some of the other categories that are announced later this year. Remember that the Teen Choice Awards often chooses to announce their picks in waves.
