Better Call Saul season 4 could be devastating for Jimmy – Kim fans

Better Call Saul season 4

Better Call Saul season 4 is going to premiering on AMC this August, and as exciting as that is, you better brace yourself if you’re a fan of Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler. Things are going to get difficult and devastating over the course of some of the episodes coming up.

The Better Call Saul cast and crew were present this weekend at the ATX Television Festival, and while there series star Bob Odenkirk (who also emotionally recounted getting the job of Saul Goodman after many struggles to land pilots elsewhere) made it clear just how painful some scenes are going to be. Check out the quote below via Entertainment Weekly:

“If you’re intrigued by the Jimmy-Kim relationship, this next season is gonna knock you out … There are scenes between Jimmy and Kim that are on another level that you haven’t seen on this show. They’re outside of character that a real couple needs to have… and it makes his life in Breaking Bad all the more tragic because she’s not in his life.”

What has long made the relationship between Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn’s characters all the more tragic, at least to us, is knowing that Jimmy has this capacity to be a tremendously good man who cares about others. Yet, he also has his demons, in between a thirst for the respect he never had from Chuck, a desire for money, and an impatience that encourages him to just make a series of quick-fixes to whatever problem that he is dealing with. These all collectively lead to him jumping the line and doing some things that he shouldn’t and in the aftermath of Chuck’s death, they could all amplify next season.

Kim Wexler is not a part of Breaking Bad. With that in mind, she has to leave somehow. Our dream is for season 4 to take you all the way up to when Jimmy becomes Saul, and at that point, we don’t think there’s anything else that we need to learn about him. We then would love season 5 to jump forward to the future, where we could potentially see Gene try to figure out how to piece his life back together. Gene is basically his purgatory and his punishment for some of the awful things he did, but at a certain point, fate may decide to give him a reward. Maybe Kim finds her way back to him, largely since there was a reason why she had that Kansas City Royals shirt back in season 2…

Hopefully, season 4 offers up more chances for theorizing and discussions; we know that we will be here to cover it almost every step of the way.
