CNN to tribute Anthony Bourdain with programming all weekend
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the previously-scheduled episode of the show will air at 9:00, alongside a special introduction via Anderson Cooper, followed by a repeat airing of the Remembering Anthony Bourdain special.
Bourdain’s passing (reports indicate that he took his own life) has led to an outpouring of messages from all over social media. We’ve seen statements from everyone from Gordon Ramsay to Emmy Rossum to Demi Lovato to President Barack Obama, who he famously filmed with. There are also likely more to come from both the culinary and international community. Given that Bourdain was such a traveler, he has friends basically all over the entire world. Some of the reactions will take some time to cultivate.
We’re glad to see CNN continue to find a way to embrace him over the next few days, especially since he smoke so highly of the network over time for allowing him to make many of the episodes in the way in which he saw fit. He often traveled with a small crew and had the freeform to take on whatever subject matter he wished, whether it be celebrations of the dead, the Congo river, or a very adult-oriented subset of Tokyo nightlife. He was a reporter in his own way, but never considered himself a journalist.
