Ratings: Code Black, Reverie, The Originals hit by NBA Finals
ABC is doing its best to get its money’s worth right now on the NBA Finals, and because if its presence, it is only inevitable that some other shows are going to feel a little bit of the sting. For now, let’s take a look at some of its impact.
Code Black – The bad news is that the CBS medical drama did slide to a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The good news, however, is that it did post more than 5.6 million viewers and beyond all things NBA on ABC, it was the most-watched show of the night. We’re still in the camp who believes that this show didn’t deserve to be canceled, but we also recognize that this opinion really doesn’t matter all that much given that CBS can do whatever they want. We just want to hold on to some hope that it could find another home somewhere else.
Reverie – One week after the show premiered with a 0.6 rating in the demo, last night it slid down to a 0.5 rating. That doesn’t bode all too well for the future of the series, and that’s a shame since we think of it as very fun, imaginative, and different. Hopefully, it recovers a little bit next week when the NBA is not on to be concerned about.
The Originals – Finally, let’s look over at the CW supernatural series, which slid all the way down to a series-low 0.2 rating. That’s unfortunately given not only the competition, but also that this episode featured the funeral of an important character in Hayley Marshall. It also does have us wondering what the exact expectations are for the spin-off series Legacies, given that The CW decided to put that show on its fall schedule. Is it going to be able to attract some new viewers?
