The Flash season 5: Will there be a new Wells?
Let’s get to the good news right away — even though Earth-2 Harry is departing the series in order to get back to his daughter, you will see Cavanagh again. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Todd Helbing confirmed this with the following message:
“I don’t want to tell you yet who he is, but when I was up there in Vancouver shooting for the finale, I talked to Tom for quite a bit about it. We landed on a pretty fun and interesting new Wells to join the team.”
We imagine that out of everyone who is on The Flash, Cavanagh likely has the most fun in that he gets to play a new character virtually every time that he comes on the show. Judging from Helbing’s quote we have to assume that this version is not one of the Council of Wells members that we’ve seen to date … though we also wonder if by the time we get to the end of the series if we’re going to meet every iteration there is within the multiverse. Let’s just hope that this new version is fun, exciting, and different.
For those wondering on the subject of the season 5 Big Bad, bad news: The tease regarding the person was left on the cutting room floor. It may not get out now for a while, but it certainly would be nice if it did! Why couldn’t The CW just offer up a few more minutes for that? They have slightly extended finales for this show in the past, even if we know they are rather stringent on such things.
