The Voice: Brynn Cartelli’s original song Walk My Way

Brynn Cartelli

In honor of Monday night marking the first part of The Voice finale, we are back today to fulfill what has become an semi-annual tradition: Breaking down original songs. In this article, the focus is on Brynn Cartelli of Team Kelly Clarkson and her original song “Walk My Way.”

Let’s start by saying this — in terms of being current and having a song that could be radio-friendly, we definitely think that Brynn is doing that. She’s got the only upbeat song of the final four, and we think that with the right staging and backup on the song this could be a really fun, super-memorable performance that helps to ensure that she gets enough votes to win. Is the chorus a little repetitive? Sure, but that’s really the sort of thing that you get with most songs that are on the radio these days.

The biggest benefit for Brynn with this song is that it’s something that should help her to stand out — and beyond that, she doesn’t get lost in the song even though it is a little bit more upbeat. We know that there are times in which something like this is crafted and, in turn, there aren’t a lot of opportunities for the vocals to shine. That’s not the case here.

Brynn is one of the favorites leading into the finale tonight, but we are still at that point where anything could happen. Plus, she’s up against two separate artists from Team Blake Shelton and we’ve learned over years just how massive of a voting block he has.

Be sure to come back later for more on Brynn, including video about the. You can also get the song on iTunes starting right now, though we imagine that most of the purchases will come tonight following the performance on the show.
