The Simpsons season 30 premiere date hopes; will season 31 happen?
We imagine that at this point, many of you out there are probably aware of the fact that there is going to be a season 30 coming in the future. This was confirmed by Fox a good year and a half ago, and that’s wonderful from the vantage point that you get to see the show hit a great milestone like that.
As for a specific premiere date, it’s fair to say either late September/early October when you look at past premiere dates. The last time that a season of the show premiered in a different window was all the way back before The Simpsons Movie came out, and that was more than a decade ago. (Crazy how time flies!) This is the timeframe that works best for the series and there is very little reason for the network to shake things up.
Now, we are at that point in the article where we pose the question as to whether or not the series is ending soon. The Simpsons have already broken so many records that it’s hard to imagine just how many more it could shatter, but we do think that it will continue to go for however long the writers and Fox are happy to keep it on the air. While a season 31 has not been 100% confirmed by Fox (at least in the form of some sort of official press release, it’s been known for a while that the series is working on an episode for the 31st season in the annual Treehouse of Horror — which fittingly, is going to be episode 666 of the show’s run. See the tweet via Al Jean at the bottom of this article.
At this point, we could easily see The Simpsons making it to around a 35, but we even shudder to think about making some sort of final-season speculation at this point. One of the things that we have certainly learned through our time covering this show at CarterMatt is that it’s silly to even start guessing as to when the show coming be coming to a close since there is a pretty good chance that it will surpass that expectation.
How long do you think The Simpsons is going to stick around on the air? Be sure to share in the comments!
