Designated Survivor season 2 finale: How did it end?
Just one week ago, we were wondering as to whether or not this character was going to survive; however, now we’re left to wonder whether or not she is a traitor and giving information to Russia. This was a huge, shocking cliffhanger with that character and we’re certainly excited to see precisely what is going to be coming up next with her … if there’s a chance. That’s the horrible thing about a show like this — there are some cliffhangers that are ultimately too hard to stomach.
Beyond just this, though, there were a few moments of hopes that we saw over the course of the hour, especially when it comes to Kirkman deciding that he will seek reelection as an independent. Even if the show gets canceled, we do think that this message is still effective if somewhat idealistic — thinking that running as an independent will present a united front to people and prove that the state of the country matters more than individual politics. Seeing a reelection campaign could have been really fun insofar as a story for season 3.
Just in case you cannot tell, it’s rather hard for us to focus on much of anything other than the future of the show. It’s heartbreaking to see a show go out like this, and it does make us wish that there was a mechanism in place for networks to have to tell writers prior to the finale script being turned in as to whether or not their shows were sticking around. Now, we’re left with an unsatisfying ending and only a tiny smidgen of hope that there could be something more.
