NCIS: New Orleans season 5: Is Pride returning?
Let’s recap precisely what happened for those of you who missed it: After doing everything that he could in order to stop both Barlow and Gossett over the course of tonight’s episode, Pride and the team found themselves successful; yet, there was still someone else out there who wanted revenge in Amelia. She wasn’t done just because the plot was foiled. That’s why in the midst of the standard NCIS: New Orleans bar celebration, she tracked down Pride and fired away. In the closing seconds the character’s life was clearly on the line.
The reason for the question at the start of the article should be pretty clear now in that we had an epic cliffhanger at the end of the finale that does raise enormous questions about the future of the series’ main character. Yet, it’s because Scott Bakula is the lead that it’s hard to imagine that the writers for NCIS: New Orleans would actually kill Pride off. He’s far too valuable to the show and he’s such a magnetic presence. Bakula gives great performances week in and week out and after everything that he went through in the finale to clear his own name, wouldn’t it be almost a slap in the face for him to be killed off at the tail end of everything now? We certainly think so.
Unfortunately, we don’t think that this is the sort of thing that the NCIS: New Orleans producers are really going to be discussing too much more from now until season 5 airs in the fall. Take the cliffhanger seriously for the Pride character, but also remember just how hard it is to imagine the series without its most-noteworthy cast member.
