Wayward Sisters fans create petition to save Supernatural spin-off

One of the biggest surprises to us over the course of the past few days happened to do with a series in Wayward Sisters that never technically even aired. We saw the backdoor pilot on Supernatural earlier this season, but that’s it. The CW opted not to pick it up and now, fans are clearly upset and rallying to change that.

If you head over to the link here, you can see the petition that has been created in full to get the show back. The challenge for Wayward Sisters at the moment is pretty simple: It’s hard for it to find a home outside of the CW. This is where the Supernatural fandom primarily is and since Warner Bros. TV is a co-owner in the network, they have the biggest financial incentive to bring it back. The ratings wouldn’t be good enough to get it a spot on any other broadcast network; when it comes to streaming, Netflix is really the only viable option because they are already a devoted home for Supernatural episodes. Also, they picked up The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, another series originally intended to be on The CW.

If you love Supernatural, we don’t think we really have to spend a whole lot of time trying to explain precisely why Wayward Sisters is viable as a series. It revolves around an assembly of fantastic characters all doing everything in their power to make the world a better place and hunt in the way they know how. It is very much the Supernatural that you know and love but also something of a different style and flavor. If the show never airs, we’ll be very much saddened that we’ll never get to see any of these adventures air.
