Lethal Weapon season 3: Seann William Scott in, Clayne Crawford out

Lethal Weapon season 3

Lethal Weapon season 3 is now official, and with that, Seann William Scott is going to be stepping for Clayne Crawford.

According to a new report coming in via TVLine, Scott could end up playing Martin Riggs’ brother, but one way or another this is a totally new character — he won’t be playing the same role that Crawford did on the show. That at least helps the series avoid this awkward situation, though it’s still going to be strange imagining this series without the signature Riggs and Murtaugh.

As a matter of fact, it’s really quite strange in itself to imagine Fox moving forward with the show, which drew moderate ratings at best, given that they don’t have one of two stars on board. This has been a rough month for Fox given that they canceled Last Man on Earth, Lucifer, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, with the latter heading to NBC. The only goodwill that they have is from fans of Last Man Standing eager to get the show back for another season.

We understand if there is some anger over Crawford’s ouster but we hope that said anger doesn’t spread over to Seann William Scott, a great actor who is really perfect for the tone and style of this show. He will bring as much as he can to the series, but whether or not that is enough to get the show another season still remains to be seen.

With this renewal, it leaves Gotham as one of the few Fox series still waiting to learn its fate one way or another. We imagine that this news is going to come out at some point within the next 24 hours. Its ratings, like Lethal Weapon, are not amazing, but it does have the value of being a part of a franchise helping it out.
