NCIS season 16: David McCallum returning with limited schedule
What is notable about the deal is that per David himself, he will once again return via a “limited schedule.” That means that he will make appearances throughout the season but not in every episode. That is an arrangement that allows him to spend time with his family while also continuing to work. It’s a great deal that allows him to enjoy his life and also continue to enjoy being a part of the show. McCallum has been with the series from the first season and given that we’re already losing Pauley Perrette at the end of this season, it would be a shame to lose someone else.
Hopefully, there will be no other departures from NCIS moving into season 16, even if there are still some questions floating around out there. For example, you obviously have to worry about the fate of some characters in the finale and beyond that, there are also question marks regarding other contracts and the like. We’re optimistic that everyone else will return; keeping McCallum around is a positive step in that direction.
There are four episodes still remaining for NCIS season 15 and hopefully within that time, we’ll get a chance to see a little bit more Ducky while also seeing some other interesting cases unravel. Signs point to the finale being especially important for Maria Bello’s Jack Sloane, the latest addition to the team.
