NCIS season 15 will feature Abby’s apartment before Pauley Perrette’s exit
You can see a photo of Abby’s apartment below courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and it is certainly what you would expect — bold and very much her style. It’s also got a great open-concept feel so that you can see a lot of the apartment all at one time. As for why so many of these characters still have apartments and not houses, have you seen the real-estate prices in the Washington DC area? It’s not exactly cheap to live in the region and many of these characters are not exactly millionaires.
In describing the intention for Abby’s apartment, here is what executive producer Frank Cardea told the publication:
“We realized we couldn’t say goodbye to Abby without ever visiting her apartment … Our NCIS design teams led by our production designer Chas Butcher, set decorator Dan Begakis, and costume designer Rachel Good, did a phenomenal job of bringing Abby’s iconic style to life. The apartment is as unique as Abby is herself.”
Meanwhile, fellow showrunner George Schenck had the following to add:
“Abby’s apartment has been 15 seasons in the making. We knew it needed to be exceptional. We really wanted to live up to the standards our fans have come to expect. We held nothing back, and we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do.”
One of the things we are most interested in seeing is the “coffin” she sleeps in. Is it actually a coffin or is it a casket? Also as a former funeral director we can tell you that the bedding in a casket (coffins are not typically an option offered in Canada) is either made of straw or a thin piece of foam so we are also curious to learn if it’s been modified for actual sleeping or if she sleeps on a bed of hay.
We hope that these episodes give a good, emotional goodbye to the character in addition to getting to see a little bit more of her life. There hasn’t been too much information out there right now as to why the character is leaving but hopefully, that is something that we’ll see play out over the next couple of weeks.
