The Durrells season 3 episode 5 preview: Louisa’s jealousy and a new family

The Durrells season 3 episode 5 is airing on ITV come Sunday, April 15, and it appears as though there is going to be plenty of fun coming up! After all, this installment is going to feature some surprises and unusual dynamics, starting of course with Louisa feeling as though her family is not the most idyllic one in Corfu anymore. With that in mind, she’s going to find herself in the investigative spirit! She of course wants some more answers as to what’s going on here and is going to do anything in her power to get some answers. (Warning: There are spoilers ahead, just in case you’re in the US and haven’t seen season 3 yet.)

With that in mind, The Durrells season 3 episode 5 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up a little bit more insight as to just what is coming up:

“Louisa becomes jealous of Spiros spending time with a new Italian family who have arrived on the island – the effortlessly beautiful and impossibly glamorous Ferraris. Determined to find out more about her competition, Louisa invites the seemingly perfect family to the house, but soon starts to suspect that there is more to them than meets the eye. Margo in particular is dazzled by eldest daughter, Clara, and feels inferior. However, her attempts to aspire to her idol’s perfection go awry when she kisses the feet of Saint Spyridion. Meanwhile, Larry joins the fire service and Gerry falls for a local girl.”

Just as you would’ve imagined and likely anticipated, The Durrells season 3 episode 5 is going to have a lot going on here even beyond just some of Louisa’s jealousy. Margo will suffer some insecurity, and much of that is understandable just because it’s a natural part of life. Also, if the Ferraris are coming out to Corfu with the intention of putting themselves up on a pedestal, they obviously do want on some level to make other people feel less significant. This is an issue that, over time, we’re going to have to see some of these other characters overcome a little bit.

As for Larry becoming a part of the fire service, this could either be an opportunity for heroism or a recipe for disaster. It’s a little too early to say which as of yet.
