American Horror Story season 8: Ryan Murphy talking with Anjelica Huston

American Horror Story season 8 already has one screen legend in Joan Collins on board, but could it soon have another in Anjelica Huston? Based on what executive producer Ryan Murphy had to say on the matter at a recent Emmy panel, it’s possible.

Speaking out in a new interview (per Deadline), Murphy revealed that he has talked with Huston about appearing on the show, but didn’t go so far as to confirm that she would be a part of the cast. There were not many casting announcements about the eighth season, though it was already reported that Collins would join Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Kathy Bates, who is returning to the series after taking a little bit of time away in order to work on Disjointed.

When it comes to giving details away about the story itself, Murphy was at least slightly more liberal with details. The action this time around takes place about eighteen months into the future, and that Evan Peters is going to be playing the grandson of Collins’ character. To go along with that, he is playing a hair stylist — after being Kai last season on American Horror Story: Cult (a physically and emotionally taxing role), Murphy wanted to mix things up slightly and give Peters something completely different.

Ryan also noted that in terms of the show’s tone, you can anticipate something that is closer to some of the earlier seasons where there were some supernatural occurrences:

“It’s not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season. We’re sort of getting back to Asylum, and Coven. That’s the tone of it.”

The question that we have at present is the one that may take some time to get an answer to: When could we end up seeing the long-awaited crossover season between Murder House and Coven? This is something that was first discussed a rather long time ago, but the further that the producers move away from the concept, the increasingly unlikely it becomes that this actually happens.
