Shadowhunters season 3 episode 3 ratings show some improvement
While on paper it may seem as though the Freeform drama didn’t improve in the 18-49 demographic versus last week (it drew a 0.2 rating), it actually did tick up by a few hundredths of a ratings point. Any improvement is good improvement in the quest to get the show another batch of episodes! (There are still 17 episodes still to go this season.)
As for total viewers, Shadowhunters also improved in posting around 463,000 total — while this may be behind the performance of the premiere episode last month, it does mark an improvement of around 20,000 viewers from the second episode last week.
For those of you who are reading and new to television ratings, know this: The most important thing that you can do if you are a fan of Shadowhunters and want to see it around is watch it live. If you’ve got Freeform, be sure to park yourself at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Tuesday and watch it, commercials included. That may be inconvenient for some in 2018 but it’s necessarily. If you can’t watch it live, either stream it via Freeform after the fact or see it on the DVR. Do something that helps the network monetize the show further. While watching on an external streaming service after the fact is helpful, we think it’s better to go directly to the source. There is no replacement for live viewing!
As of right now, we are fairly confident that there will be a Shadowhunters season 4 just on the basis of how heavily the show is promoted and the global reach of the show in turn. Think about things this way if you are a network executive — are you really going to want to cancel a series that is drawing consistent trending topics? It’s hard to imagine a reason to want to do that. This show can be used as a great platform to some other shows on the network — that is valuable to a network that is adding a lot of programming.
