Could Roseanne season 11 ultimately surpass 13 episodes?
Is that order going to stand at thirteen? That is one of the interesting questions to wonder as we get closer to the second week of Roseanne coming on the air. While right now the thirteen episodes seem set in stone, it could just be a jumping-off point for more based on what some other shows are doing. For example, Will & Grace has seen its seasons extended since it was first brought back on the air, and for some other successful series on CBS like SWAT, we’ve seen episodes added right in the middle of production.
The case for ABC to extend season 11 down the road is pretty clear: If the ratings stay enormous for season 10, they are obviously going to want more. Why wouldn’t they? If they can find a way to negotiate it and make sure all of the actor schedules are freed up, they are almost certainly going to find a way to throw some more episodes on the air.
As for the one possible reason that this may not happen, think in terms of said schedules. Sara Gilbert has another job on The Talk, John Goodman has a movie career, Roseanne doesn’t spend all of her time in Los Angeles, and Laurie Metcalf is coming off of an Oscar nomination and probably is going to be flooded with job offers. Getting them together for more than 13 episodes at one time may be a little much. This allows the show to take a break, refresh, and then come back for more comedy down the line, which for CarterMatt we think is the ideal for this show. That way it doesn’t get stale with a super long season and becomes more of an event which will get people to want to tune in live.
