Roseanne season 11 renewal now official at ABC; episode count revealed
This decision was made quickly on the heels of the series’ big success, and with that in mind, it does also seem as though ABC is keen to get more of Roseanne on the air. This time around, the episode order is up to 13 installments, an increase from the nine that were produced this time around.
Here is what the network’s entertainment president Channing Dungey had to say on the subject:
“We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes …The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year.”
The words “next year” at the end of the statement strongly indicate that Roseanne is still going to remain a midseason show, which is smart in that it enables it to be a little bit more of an event instead of pumping out so many episodes that viewers get fatigue. Doing just thirteen episodes should help to keep the show fresh and also gives the cast some time in order to do some other things. That makes a heck of a lot of sense given that 22 episodes is a lot for some of these cast members at this point in their career; also, Laurie Metcalf is probably getting a whole flurry of offers at the moment stemming from her performance in Lady Bird.
Once there’s a little more news in regards to Roseanne season 11, CarterMatt will certainly let you know! However, we don’t necessarily think that there is going to be any for a good while given that upfronts aren’t even until May. We still have a lot of this new season to still get through!
