Gotham season 4 filming wraps — but is it truly the end?

Gotham season 4

Be prepared to feel the slightest tinge of sadness – the end of Gotham season 4 filming is here. The cast and crew started filming in New York this past summer, and they are now officially done for at least the next few months if the show comes back for a fifth season.

In a new post via his official Instagram, star David Mazouz (Bruce) confirmed the news with a rather-touching message describing precisely what the show has meant to him and also how much he still enjoys it. This has been an incredible journey for him to grow up on this show (and for us to get to be a part of that), which also features Bruce Wayne growing up in his own spectacular way. The cast and crew have a close relationship — they not only film together, but they also attend conventions together and are a metaphorical family both on and off set.

In Mazouz’s Instagram post he does also allude to the fact that it is possible that the end is here for Gotham. The ratings are mediocre at best this season and with that comes the potential that season 4 marks the end of the road. Obviously, we’re hoping for a fifth (and possible) final season in order to wrap up some key stories, but the ball is both in Fox and the viewers’ court at the moment. What the show has going for it is the international accessibility due to the source material and also DVR ratings; yet, it also comes via an outside studio and that is not always great when it comes to generating strong numbers.

Scoffing at psychology because penguin and Bruce don’t play by those rules That’s a wrap on season 4 In some ways these 4 years feel like they should be 10 and in others it feels like the experience has taken 2 weeks. All I know is I am so crazy proud of what we have done on #Gotham. I am so happy I was blessed enough to be apart of this large super villain/hero family. This show has seen me through my most formative years yet- my adolescence thus far – and has shaped a (Bat) man so incredibly overjoyed with his past but also vigilantly ready for what is to come. Thank you everyone who has contributed to this project and experience, transforming my life in this beyond positive way. And whether or not this is the end of Gotham’s road, I love you all and these characters and what they represent will live forever (on Netflix and Hulu) and in our minds and hearts ( I know that was cheesy but it is true)
