The Good Fight season 2 bringing back Mike Colter as Leonard Bishop
According to Deadline, the Luke Cage star is returning the franchise in the role that he played across multiple seasons of the CBS series. Because of Bishop’s history in the drug trade he was considered for some time to be one of the most volatile and controversial clients; as a matter of fact, his run ended with Bishop going to jail. Where his story picks up on The Good Fight remains to be seen but we have to imagine that the material here and the story have to be fairly strong in order for Colter to come back.
One of the things that cannot be overstated here is just how big of a springboard The Good Wife ended up being for Colter. You can argue that playing Bishop is one of the reasons why he eventually landed the Luke Cage role and, in turn, why he’s getting even more offers to date. The merits of starring on this show are limitless since you are getting great, grounded material that really allows you the time and the space to shine as an actor. While there are some shows out there that are effects-driven or really reliant on significant twists and turns, The Good Wife and, by extension, The Good Fight are both extremely actor-driven shows. They have exceptional scripts, but they are also given some really great opportunities in order to shine and bring some of that material to the next level.
New episodes of The Good Fight air Sunday nights on CBS All Access. Meanwhile, season 2 of Luke Cage could premiere a little bit later this year.
