Agents of SHIELD season 5 episode 14 preview: Fitz, Simmons, face their fears

Agents of SHIELD season 5 episode 14 could serve to prove a number of different things, but one of the biggest one is simple this: Fitz and Simmons aren’t exactly going to have a happy honeymoon period. They just got married, but there’s not a whole lot of time now to celebrate anything. They have to find a way to stop the rift and in the process of that, deal with danger that is different from anything that they have encountered so far.

The Agents of SHIELD season 5 episode 14 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offer up a reasonably good idea as to what is coming up on the series next:

As Fitz and Simmons race to find a way to seal the Rift, they are faced with one of their greatest fears manifested.…

This episode is going to be exciting just for the FitzSimmons focus alone; also, we do think some of the best Agents of SHIELD hours are the ones that are reasonably contained and test the writers in some interesting ways. What happens on some of those episodes where you don’t have much of a budget and you’re forced to rely mostly on the strength of the writing? If this ends up being one of those episodes, it’s exciting and it could be a chance for the story to be pushed to the creative limits.

Of course, we’re hoping that the showrunners are going all-out at the moment judging from the lack of a renewal at present. CarterMatt has the show firmly on the renewal bubble at the moment. Its ratings are not good enough to make us confident in a season 6, but it is faring a little bit better than expected given that this is a different timeslot in Friday nights with a surprising amount of competition.
