The Voice video: Stephanie Skipper auditions to Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Piece by Piece’
In the sneak peek below courtesy of NBC, you can see Skipper perform to Kelly Clarkson hit “Piece by Piece.: It’s a pretty powerful moment, but it also yields a fairly surprising result. How does Kelly not turn for her own song? We say that like it’s some sort of impossible thing, but remain reality there are a lot of different instances over the history of the show or performing a coaches song does not necessarily mean that you get them to turn around. Sometimes, it’s just hard to convince them to make a move with a song that is that personal to their heart. They can’t quite judge it the same way that they do everything else.
Personally, we do feel like Skipper really nailed the performance and she has a unique sound or voice that you don’t hear often on singing competitions. It doesn’t just sound like he is trying to emulate someone else. She’s doing something that is uniquely her own, and this is a obscure enough song from Clarkson that you know that she didn’t just take it because she heard it on the radio once. This son, after all, came out back in 2015.
So who did turn around for Stephanie? It’s none other than Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, which means that we are in for an old-school showdown between these two coaches fighting to see who is going to have her on their team. Kelly, meanwhile, has some serious regrets about not turning around. Then why didn’t you?! That is one of the things that we will never quite understand about this show, and how the coaches always tend to say that when they didn’t turn around and somebody is fairly decent.
