NCIS season 15 episode 15: Should we see Gabriel Hicks be arrested?

NCIS season 15 episode 15 is airing on CBS Tuesday night and in preparation for that very thing, we come to you with another discussion on the main adversary stopping by in the hour: Gabriel Hicks.

The first time that you saw this character earlier this season, one thing was pretty darn apparent about him: He meant business. He was smart, ruthless, and he found a way to out-fox someone in Gibbs who is not altogether easy to trick. Gibbs is the master of being in control but with Hicks on the road, Gibbs may be reeling a little bit.

Hicks has made a powerful impact on the team — even if it’s not a good one — and it’s with that in mind there are many different questions in terms of whether or not he actually should be captured on Tuesday night.

The reason to capture Hicks is pretty clear: He’s evil. This is obviously what the NCIS team wants and for NCIS itself, they may view this as the right move. They don’t tend to tell long narratives about any of their villains so it makes some sense for them to want to move on to whatever is next on the pecking order.

However, from a storytelling perspective there’s a really great reason to also let Hicks go off free again — this gives the show that much more of an exciting story for the finale. We’d personally keep the character out there until May and have his capture happen in some sort of two-part event. This is a way to really build up intensity and put even more drama into the finale. We’re all about creating memorable episodes — the finale’s already going to be that courtesy of Abby’s departure, but why not add a little bit of something extra into the mix? There is really no downside at all to bringing in Hicks in the finale other than that some casual fans may have missed the earlier episodes when they are watching it; with that, they may not have that great of an idea as to what’s going on. Who does NCIS really want to cater towards — the diehard fans or the people watching every now and then? That’s something that they need to figure out.
