Is a Shadowhunters season 3 Halloween episode happening?
In a new post on Twitter, executive producer Todd Slavkin posted a rather interesting message saying “Happy Halloween” in the context of the show. That could be a number of different things, but our prevailing theory at the moment is that the Freeform drama is going to be giving you something that ties into the October 31 holiday a little bit later this season.
When you think about the schedule at the moment for Shadowhunters season 3 this also makes a certain degree of sense. Because the first half of the season is airing starting on March 20, it makes sense that the second half would probably not premiere until we roll around to the fall. That means that, feasibly, there would be an episode of the series airing around Halloween and there are few other shows more perfect for this sort of story — can you imagine what sort of creepiness that could be injected into Shadowhunters for this sort of holiday episode?

Obviously, one of the challenges anytime you do a holiday-themed episode is that there are some elements of it that are going to be standalone in nature. It’s hard to not do that since these are episodes that are often watched out of context with the rest of the season down the load. We all as television viewers have some holiday episodes that you can watch every year without fail. For example, there are excellent Thanksgiving episodes of How I Met Your Mother and WKRP in Cincinatti and we also watch one of The Office Christmas episodes every year without fail.
We’ve got faith in Slavkin and the rest of the writing staff to pull this off; after all, they’ve done a fantastic job crafting many other stories on this show. They’ve found a way to capture the spirit of the books while also something unique that appeals to non-readers in its own right.
