When could CBS renew Hawaii Five-0, SEAL Team, MacGyver, and more?
Typically, the latest in which you’re going to hear about a show’s renewal is the middle of May, but typically CBS doesn’t make you wait that long with some of their products. They’ve got no problem letting the cat out of the bag a little bit early. They announced on March 23 last year that the bulk of their lineup was coming back — it’s pretty likely that they could do this again.
As for some of the shows we anticipate to be in their bulk renewal, think along the lines of NCIS, Bull, NCIS: New Orleans, Survivor, SEAL Team, Mom, Kevin Can Wait, SWAT, Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver, Blue Bloods, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Madam Secretary. There could be a show or two left out, but it would probably just be for contract negotiations with someone. For example, NCIS needs to re-sign Mark Harmon to another contract and we may be at a point where Tom Selleck on Blue Bloods needs a new deal.
As for the shows CBS may wait on, they’ve taken their time on some series like Criminal Minds in the past from outside studios. Meanwhile, Scorpion is a little more of a bubble series than it’s been in the past, The Amazing Race is often treated like a last-minute fill-in, and many of their comedies on Monday and Thursday night may require a little bit more patience. Elementary and Code Black are the real wild cards given that they have not even premiered yet.
