Arrow season 6 episode 15 spoilers: Colton Haynes’ big return

Arrow season 6 episode 15 is so much more than your ordinary hour of the show; after all, this marks the big return of Colton Haynes to the series! It’s been over a year since Roy Harper was a part of the series, and his return could end up being incredibly significant to the entire landscape of the series — especially when it comes to Thea Queen. This could be the Thea story that we’ve been waiting to have for years. The treatment of that character over the years has admittedly been rather frustrating; we’ve seen great performances from her over time, but she hasn’t worn the Speedy costume in over a season and more often than not she’s relegated now to being in the Mayor’s Office and little else.

Let’s get back to this episode for a moment, since we could go on about the mistreatment of Thea Queen for a while. The Arrow season 6 episode 15 synopsis offers up some more information as to what’s ahead:

ROY HARPER RETURNS – Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) are shocked to hear that Roy Harper (guest star Colton Haynes) is back in Star City. However, when they discover the circumstances of Roy’s return, Oliver and Thea realize that Roy is in trouble and jump in to save him. Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) makes a shocking decision. Kristin Windell directed the episode with story by Christos Gage & Ruth Fletcher Gage and teleplay by Speed Weed (#615). Original airdate 3/8/2018.

It’s worth noting that the title for this episode is “Doppelganger,” which suggests one of two different things: Either we’re about to meet an Earth-2 version of Roy Harper or this is a reference to Black Siren’s own relationship to Laurel Lance. Over the past few episodes there’s been an attempt to see if Black Siren could be like the old Laurel; could this be a chance to actually see movement with this story? At this point it does feel earned and not just thrown in there for the sake of rushing things along.
