Ink Master interview: Katie Rhoden on Steve Tefft, elimination, more
Unfortunately, things went a little off the rails for her the past couple of weeks, and after working with a canvas with difficult skin on this past episode she found herself leaving the competition. It was a challenging ride for Katie at times, as she became involved in some confrontations with some of the other artists.
In this week’s exit interview Katie talks about working with Steve, her elimination, and a few other topics.
CarterMatt – You were the first person to join Steve Tefft’s team. Are you proud you picked him?
Yes, Steve was a great team leader.
How much was there an underdog mentality among the people on Steve’s team?
At first it was a constant underdog mentality, but after he won the challenge we felt like we were taking it back a little and we were capable of more.
Was dealing with some of the personalities on the show far harder than you expected?
Definitely, I was not prepared for that.
The moment you got your canvas for the elimination challenge, did you know you were in trouble?
Honestly, no. I know it would be a challenge but I didn’t think it would be that tough.
Did you think you had a case to stay over Lil’ D, given that he’d been in danger multiple times already?
No. A bad tattoo is a bad tattoo.
Did Steve have any parting advice for you that we didn’t get to see?
Just to keep my head up and keep moving forward, that it wasn’t the end of my career, rather just the end of that moment.
What did you take away from being on Ink Master the most?
That I need to learn to deal with being under pressure.
