Vikings season 6 spoilers: Eric Johnson set as new series regular
According to a new report coming in right now via Deadline, Johnson (best known for his role on The Knick) is going to be appearing on the History series moving forward as a series regular. It only seems appropriate that he is playing the role of Erik given his name. Erik is a “formidable warrior,” and someone who has not exactly had the easiest life to date. He’s spent a good bit of his history trying to just find a way to survive, and with his back constantly up against the wall, he’s figured out that the proper way in which for him to do so is relying mostly on his wit and charm to carry the day. He’s brutal when he needs to be, but he is also capable of much more than that.
Johnson joins a cast that features a wonderful mix of performers, and production on season 6 remains very much underway in Ireland. Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha on the series, is currently in production directing her first episode. There is no firm date as of yet for the sixth season to premiere, mostly because there is still no return date on the remainder of season 5! While we do anticipate that there are going to be some more installments coming up a little bit later this year, the folks over at History have not confirmed all that much in terms of when they will start or even what time of the year. Our gut tells us the second half of season 5 will air this summer, given that these episodes finished filming quite some time ago, but that is not a confirmation.
Given that Vikings does have such a large cast and there are so many people needed in order to fill this world, we imagine that there are going to be even more announcements coming in the future. Once we have more information, we’ll have it here at the site.
