Grey’s Anatomy – Station 19 crossover coming in early March

Grey's Anatomy - Station 19 crossover

Just in case you were wondering when the first Grey’s AnatomyStation 19 crossover was going to be coming your way, you really don’t have to wait all that long.

In a new post on Twitter, Station 19 star Jaina Lee Ortiz confirmed that the backdoor pilot of sorts for her show is airing alongside Grey’s Anatomy come March 1; following that, the proper series premiere of her show will be arriving on March 22This is going to mark a chance to get your feet wet on this show before it premieres, which should prove rather useful in determining whether or not you are going to watch. Also, pairing it up with Grey’s Anatomy proper is as smart as smart can be.

What we like about Station 19 in general is that this marks an opportunity to see something else within the Grey’s Anatomy world, which has a tone that is completely different from almost anything else on TV. These shows are often emotional, but also funny. They celebrate diversity in a way that very few other shows do, and they also remind you that some of the best heroes in the community are the ones who don’t often get proper recognition. Underneath everything, though, doctors and firefighters are just like everyone else with their own set of problems.

Obviously, Station 19 is going to be contending with some super-high expectations thanks in part to Chicago Firewhich is probably one of the best shows of its kind ever created. What makes that show so fantastic is that it doesn’t lose sight of the some of the menial, fun stuff that happens at the firehouse. There is obviously an awareness that there are still big fires almost every week that need to be tackled but the show is about so much more than that. (Interestingly, we would say that the worst parts of Chicago Fire are the parts where there are actual fires — we don’t mean that as a slam per se, but it’s simply just a reminder that this is a show that does some really great stuff without the fires even being around.)

We’re excited to give Station 19 a chance, especially since with Scandal ending, there will eventually be a massive hole in ABC’s Thursday-night programming that needs to be filled somehow. This could be the way to do it.
