Scandal season 7 episode 10 spoilers: Kerry Washington’s directorial debut
As a matter of fact, the Scandal season 7 episode 10 synopsis that was just released indicates that this could be coming back to haunt her now:
“The People v. Olivia Pope” – When Olivia agrees to join Fitz in Vermont for what she thinks will be a relaxing getaway, she is shocked to find that her closest friends have orchestrated a relentless intervention. Back in Washington, Cyrus finally reveals his suspicions to Mellie about Olivia and Jake’s extracurricular activities.
The irony about this episode is that Olivia could find herself getting her life back together, only to later realize that the decisions of her past could still come back to bite her. You can’t do some of what she’s done as Chief of Staff and then expect to wipe your hands of it the moment that you’ve started to realize the error of your ways. This is stuff that could haunt Olivia for a LONG time and she has to be prepared for it.

As for how much of Washington’s personal touch we hope to see in her directing, we’re sure that there will be a few shots here and there that are distinct. Yet, at the same time it’s very hard to make any one episode of the series different from the next given that all episodes have to fit into the same box. It’s a little different than film directing, where directors tend to have a whole lot more freedom.
