Law & Order: SVU season 19: It’s time for a big Sonny Carisi episode
As much as we’ve found season 19 interesting and compelling, you can also argue that there hasn’t been anywhere near enough Carisi so far. To date, we’d consider his trip to West Virginia with Rollins one of the more interesting plot points just because it was one of the first times in a while that the idea of Rollins / Carisi was brought into the forefront. They remain great friends, but nothing else really happened for the time being.
We want there to be some more screen time to come Carisi’s way by the end of the season, but how should it happen? We’ve got a few different suggestions based on where we are right now.
1. More of Carisi’s family – It’s always been fun to explore Sonny’s home life, so why not do that more? It’s also a chance to check in on many of them after not doing that in a while. His background is very different from most of the other squad members so there’s always some pretty rich, interesting stuff to explore here anytime that SVU decides to go in this direction.
2. Different character pairings – Typically, we see Benson as the person who works alongside Barba the most. Why not have a case where Carisi needs to testify or he is the one bringing him information? It’d serve as an opportunity to shake things up slightly, and we absolutely know that there are a lot of Barba / Carisi fans out there who’d appreciate seeing them work together.
3. Put Carisi undercover – Have an episode where Carisi is forced to act in a very different capacity, playing some sort of unseemly character in order to get information on a case. It’s an opportunity to see Scanavino flex some different muscles; we know that undercover work happens fairly often on SVU but we never get all that bored with it.
What do you want to see in terms of Scanavino’s work on SVU moving forward? Be sure to share in the comments!
