MacGyver season 2: Four things we’d like to see by season’s end

What’s coming on MacGyver season 2 the rest of the way? We should start by getting the bad news out of the way now: There is no new episode tonight on CBS. We’re taking the week off from new episodes, but come one week’s time we will have a chance to see one more new episode before the CBS series takes off on what is a longer hiatus for the Olympics.

There are no spoilers ahead; instead, what we’ve got our some of our projections of things that we would like to see coming before we make it to the end of the road this year.

1. Answers about Mac’s father, and the connection between him and Matty Webber – This is the biggest long-term story at the moment, and we’ve seen slowly over time to the point where we could get some answers before too long on where Mac’s dad is and how Matty fits in to everything. Given the timing as to when this storyline was first introduced, it seems completely logical that it be paid off by the time the finale rolls around.

2. Some sort of consistent Jack love interest – It briefly looked like we were going to have that last week with Amy Smart’s character — at least before the turn at the end. The appeal for having Jack in love is that it throws off so many of his defenses. He acts like he is suave and capable of dating anyone he wants, when in reality it is virtually the opposite of that.

3. A new villain – Obviously, we’re not advocating for less of Murdoc or anyone else, but why not introduce another long-term adversary who can also be used here or there? Right now the three best ones we have our the Ghost, Murdoc, and the Colton Family. It doesn’t hurt to add more to the list.

4. Answers on Cage – Regardless on if you like the character or don’t like her (we’ve heard both perspectives plenty), we would like another update at some point over the next few weeks. We’ve already gone on the record as being pro-Cage, mostly because she adds another variable to the field missions and there are some dark undertones with this character that aren’t quite there with many of the others.
