Hawaii Five-0 season 8: Will we learn who shot Danny and why?
Here’s the good news when it comes to the Danny questions: There are answers coming. They may not be coming right now, but they will be answered coming up. Show executive producer Peter M. Lenkov confirmed as much in a post on Twitter (see below). It was fair to assume that the information would be coming up, mostly because the way that these seasons often go is that a story is set up only to be resolved a handful of episodes down the road. We had this a few times last season and with Danny, this could be a good story to give Scott Caan some time in the spotlight as his past actions are explored more.
So why not pick up on this story right away this year? We know that it’s easy to wonder about that, but at the same time Danny’s been in recovery from the shooting and we like to imagine that this is the sort of thing that is being quietly investigated but there are no clear leads at the moment. When you’re in Five-0, there is almost always something going on that you have to contend with. Steve and Danny have had their hands full trying to take on the rise in gang activity on the islands, and we don’t exactly blame them that they’ve wanted to focus a little bit of their free time on planning the restaurant.

Obviously, we’re going to root for the responsible party to be caught here, just as we are rooting for many things when it comes to Danny moving forward this season. We’d like to see a little bit more of him as a father, and it also feels like it’d be fun to see the finale feature some sort of attempt at actually launching the restaurant … even if it’s just a trial dinner for a small handful of guests.
