Want to know the NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 14 return date? We’ve got some great news for you within this CarterMatt piece, but it may not make the wait any easier given the sort of cliffhanger the producers may be sending your way tonight.

Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting until Sunday, March 11 in order to see the remainder of the ninth season play out. It’s almost standard-operating procedure for CBS at this point to take a long hiatus with their Sunday shows through the end of January and February, largely so that they don’t have to air against the myriad of other things that are coming on the air. Think in terms here of the NFL playoffs, the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Olympics. Even if CBS snuck an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles in there at some point, that episode would have the oh-so-unfortunate task of airing almost on an island, separate from most of their other installments. There’s no reason that CBS would want to isolate an episode like that — it’d be harder to promote for one, and beyond that it becomes so much more confusing for viewers. It’s so much easier to air a run of new episodes in March separate from most of the stuff that is airing over the next couple of months.

Here is the silver lining if you are a big-time fan of NCIS: Los Angeles — when the series does return to CBS with new episodes, it is going to be doing so in a way where they can run almost the rest of them non-stop until the finale in May. There is likely to be one hiatus coming in mid-April thanks to the Academy of Country Music Awards, but beyond that we wouldn’t be shocked if new episodes run straight through until early May.

Let’s just hope that some of these episodes kick off a new, exciting arc for the series. With the team heading to Vietnam for Sunday night’s new episode, we like to think of the rest of the season as an opportunity to explore some new avenues and character possibilities. If they take advantage of that, it could help to propel the show even more towards a season 10.
