Lucifer season 3 spoilers: Lucifer and Cain go undercover … together? (Photo)

We knew that the relationship between Lucifer and Cain could be interesting to watch on Lucifer season 3 — yet, we never quite imagined that the writers would be going in this direction for the two of them.

On the upcoming January 29 episode entitled “Till Death Do Us Part,” Lucifer and Cain (of course, known by everyone else as Marcus Pierce) are going to go undercover as a couple in order to solve the murder of a chemistry teacher /ecstasy cook. Basically, this episode seems to be giving you Breaking Bad in the event Walter White was killed off at the start of the series and didn’t make it to the point where he was in the empire business.

The first photo below (via Entertainment Weekly) seems to be a recreation of Lucifer and Cain’s engagement / wedding photo in Hawaii, and it’s hysterical. We figure that this is one of the pictures they’ll have in their suburban home in the event that people come to visit them.

We feel like a big part of the appeal for this episode is likely going to just come out of seeing these two characters have to work together despite not being the best of friends. This is not the first time that we’ve seen a story on a primetime show where two characters have to go undercover in the suburbs in order to ensure that a crime is solved. Yet, at the same time this is one of the few occasions we can think of where this sort of story featured two characters working together who actually don’t like each other all that much at all. It’s an interesting twist on a familiar format, and it’s definitely something that we’re excited to see play out over the course of this hour.

Also, it’s a temporary distraction from what is one of the main focuses of the rest of the season: Cain wants to die, but has not been able to figure out a way to make that happen. This could be where Lucifer enters the picture.
