Saturday Night Live: Sam Rockwell drops f-bomb on live TV

Dave Chappelle

This weekend’s Saturday Night Live proved to be very interesting, especially when it came to Sam Rockwell saying something pretty shocking during the first live sketch: The f-bomb.

Who would’ve thought we’d get a Sam Rockwell f-bomb happen so early in the show? Well, that happened during a science-themed sketch where his character, the host of a fake science show (ironically on PBS Kids), busted out a swear word to the enjoyment of most of the audience. You know who didn’t love it? Well, that’d be the majority of the network censors more than likely. Someone probably will have a talk with him after the fact.

This is obviously far from the first instance of there being a swear word on SNL over the years, but it’s one of the more memorable ones. Typically when someone swears, it’s not anywhere near this bold. Yet, you could tell that Rockwell didn’t mean to do it judging from his reaction after the fact. (Ironically, he just did a cold open about wanting to be a leading man — this probably isn’t something most leading men would do, even if it was oddly enjoyable to see him do it.) We just think this was a direct response to him combining the character with himself — he was having so much fun that he got lost in the moment.

Here is where we felt a lot for Rockwell, given that he had an entire show to do almost immediately after this and he had to figure out a way in which to move forward and forget about what just happened. That’s really not an easy thing to do. We’ll certainly give him credit for trying.
