Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team web series set to debut featuring interns

Grey's Anatomy: B-Team

For anyone out there looking to know more about some of the new faces at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, know this: There’s an opportunity to check them all out in the near future!

On Thursday, ABC will premiere on its website and app Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team, a brief web series that features many of the interns who made their first appearance earlier this season.

Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team cast includes (per People, who first reported the news) Sophia Taylor Ali (Dahlia Qadri), Jake Borelli (Levi Schmitt), Alex Blue Davis (Casey Parker), Jaicy Elliot (Taryn Helm), Rushi Kota (Vik Roy) and Jeanine Mason (Samantha “Sam” Bello). Many familiar faces from Grey’s Anatomy itself will also appear, including Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Kelly McCeary (Maggie), Kevin McKidd (Owen), and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber). Barbara Kaye Friend is writing the series, while Sarah Drew (who plays April Kepner) is going to be making her directorial debut via these episodes.

You can see the Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team promotional artwork below, and we do give ABC some credit on what we personally believe to be a pretty smart idea to give the interns some more airtime while also not doing anything to take away from the show itself. To date, there’s really not all that much we know about some of these characters. We know Sam because of her romantic history with DeLuca, just like we also know Levi a.k.a. Glasses from his time with Jo earlier this season. Beyond that, there is a lot of work for Grey’s Anatomy to explore some of these people more and this could be the perfect setting for it. The specific story for the webseries seems to be about the first day for many of these interns in their official capacity.

Hopefully, this will also tide over some especially-eager viewers awaiting the chance to see more of Grey’s Anatomy proper. The series itself returns from its long winter hiatus on Thursday, January 18.

What do you think about the idea of Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team as a webseries? Do you think it’s the perfect companion to the show itself? Be sure to share now in the comments!
