She’s Gotta Have It renewed: Season 2 of Spike Lee series coming
In honor of today being New Year’s Day Spike Lee himself confirmed that the show, (a re-imagining of his classic motion picture) is going to be coming back for a second season. The first season premiered last year and drew (for the most part) rave reviews; yet, we did wonder as to whether or not a season 2 would happen just because trying to track some of the intentions of Spike Lee is not the easiest thing to do in the world. He’s a busy man with a lot on his plate, so we wouldn’t have been surprised if he was moving onto his next project.
The cast for She’s Gotta Have It season 1 includes DeWanda Wise, Greer Childs, Lyriq Bent, Anthony Ramos, Heather Headley, Margot Bingham, Chyna Layne, and Elise Hudson. It remains to be seen just how many of these cast members return for another go-around. We also have to wait and see if this renewal helps to ensure that there are some other adaptations from Spike Lee that end up making it to the small screen. This is one of his first major cracks at it, and given that this was successful, that may be a little bit more of an incentive for him to do something else similar in the future. He’s building a positive relationship with Netflix and we’ve got a feeling that they will be eager to bring a little more Lee-related content to the small screen.
The premiere date for She’s Gotta Have It season 2 may not be official until later this year; once there is more news about it, we’ll have an announcements. Signs point towards fall / early winter.
