New Tonight (January 1): Better Late Than Never season 2, Lucifer, The Gifted, The Bachelor

NBC
8:00 – The Wall. It’s a funny, enjoyable game show with Chris Hardwick as the host.
9:00 – Better Late Than Never season 2 premiere. William Shatner, George Foreman, Henry Winkler, and Terry Bradshaw are back to see the world with the help of Jeff Dye. This time around, they’re heading off to Europe for another adventure!
Fox
8:00 – Lucifer. In this flashback episode, you’re going to have a chance to see more of how the title character arrived in Los Angeles. Think of this as the Lucifer origin story. (See the full trailer over here.)
9:00 – The Gifted. The arrival of a new group of anti-mutant fighters is going to cause all sorts of trouble. Head over here if you want to see the new sneak peek!
ABC
8:00 – The Bachelor. The fan favorite reality franchise is back with Arie Luyendyk Jr. as the leading man. Should be an interesting season.
The CW
9:00 – Valor. Finally, we visit the military drama over on The CW, which is coming on the air to begin what is the final stretch of episodes. The fact that the show is effectively burning off the last of its season 1 episodes here should be a pretty staunch indicator that the low-rated series is not returning for a second go-around. Enjoy the show and some of its characters while you still can.
Elsewhere…
There is a great deal of college football on if you love bowl game season. Meanwhile, there’s also a few marathons scattered here and there — the Chappelle’s Show revisiting Comedy Central and should be especially appealing for those of you out there who enjoyed what he brought to the table on Netflix.
