The Bachelor spotlight: Meet Maquel Cooper, photographer and recent divorcee

Maquel Cooper could be one of the contestants on The Bachelor with Arie Lueyendyk Jr. who makes an almost immediate impression, and a big part of that happens to be that she knows how to put herself in the best possible light. Not only is she a photographer, but she also does a little bit of modeling on the side. She’s used to creating perfect images and it seems as though she’s done plenty of weddings. Basically, you can count on Maquel having the story of “I photograph other people getting married so I want a husband for myself.” Think Desiree Hartsock’s original story but with a slight twist.

As for what else you should know about her, Maquel is 23 years old, hails from Utah, and she believes that going on The Bachelor is one of the most outrageous things that she’s ever done. She’s got an Instagram that shows that she’s into fitness and could easily be a part of a Taylor Swift-like squad with about eight or ten other women after the show posting pictures from various tropical locales.

Here’s one of the things that is super-interesting and may not get all that much attention. Maquel was previously married to a guy named Josh Munday back in 2016, but the two parties divorced months after that. Munday apparently wants her back so much that he did an in interview with In Touch saying as much:

“There was no infidelity, [and] she was never rude or malicious or anything of the sort. We were high school sweethearts that got married a bit too early.”

Will Arie Luyendyk Jr. like her? – Possibly, but we would be surprised if she wins given that she’s one of the youngest people on this season and we wouldn’t be altogether surprised if she just ends up back with her ex after the show. There is a natural part of us that just thinks that her going on this show is a win for her career — she may have also wanted love, as the two things are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
