New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018: BTS performs ‘DNA’ from Los Angeles
We do think that it had to be rather odd for the group to perform this song on “New Year’s Eve” when it wasn’t New Year’s Eve, but if you love BTS you probably found a lot to love about this performance. It was fun, high-energy, had some signature harmonies, and of course a lot of dance moves. This is the sort of performance that will make you smile if you’re a fan — after all, there does often come a certain point where you’ve seen many different performances of your favorite group on TV and you yearn for ways in which they can stand out. BTS does a good job making sure that all of them stand out and you’re not just watching things time and time again.
As an American viewer, it is exciting to see Korean pop star to become more mainstream in other parts of the world. They’ll probably have even more gigs in the months to come as their profile only continues to expand. (In general, we would say that 2017 was one of the best ever in terms of global music, with hits coming in from many different countries.)
We also have a feeling that this won’t be their last New Year’s Rockin’ Eve performance. Who knows? Maybe someday in the future they could perform live from New York, the primo spot on the show even if you do have to deal with the freezing temperatures.
