NCIS: Los Angeles in 2018: 5 things we want to see, including a season 10 renewal

John M. Jackson

What’s coming up for NCIS: Los Angeles in 2018? It’s a brand-new year coming up, and of course with that comes a whole new slate of interesting possibilities. This is a show that set up some high stakes through out the first half of season 9 in a wide array of different ways. For starters, you’ve got the fact that we’re almost halfway through the season and there is still no Hetty at the office with the rest of the team. Beyond that, there’s no indication that a Densi wedding is close and there’s also still no word as to the show’s future beyond this year.

With all of this in mind, let’s now work through five different things that CarterMatt is hoping to get for NCIS: Los Angeles over the course of 2018.

1. Hetty’s big return – This one feels really obvious. Who doesn’t want to see Hetty back with the rest of the team in the new year? She’s one of the show’s most beloved characters and as a result of that, you want to get her back in the same orbit as Sam, Callen, and everyone else. Luckily, we get a sense that by mid-March, we’ll learn what exactly is going to happen with her. (Remember that there’s a big hiatus coming after the middle of January due to the NFL / the Olympics / the Oscars.)

2. A Densi wedding – This feels obvious as well, but let’s go ahead and throw it out into the universe anyway. Without a Densi wedding the story just doesn’t feel complete. Maybe it doesn’t need to happen in season 9, but there’s gotta be at least a wedding date set, right?

3. What’s going on with Nell and Eric? – Can we get some sort of steady development there? It’s nice to have Deeks and Kensi together, but it feels like when it comes to this relationship we’re currently seeing it reasonably stuck in one place. It’s time to make some moves in that regard.

4. Have Sam’s boat trip be complete – We know that this is something he is planning with his kids as a way to say goodbye to Michelle; we’d like to bear witness to that journey. It’s a chance to offer up a big farewell to the first part of his life and officially move ahead to what’s next. To call this critical to his future would almost be underselling it. This is essential to seeing how Sam pushes ahead as a person.

5. A season 10 renewal – We need to see this happen! While we know that there are often many different boxes that need to be checked and things that need to happen in order to officially secure the renewal, this is some news we hope to have come out by the time we get to March or April. That allows us to just enjoy the finale without so much concern for the future.
