Supergirl in 2018: 5 things we want to see before season 3 finale

Supergirl season 3 episode 4

What are we hoping to see for Supergirl in 2018? Let’s just say that we’ve got a number of different expectations that span the rest of the season, and possibly lead into whatever the CW series could be doing moving into season 4.

While we’ve been reasonably excited about some other seasons of Supergirl in the past, the show’s quality as of late is spiking things up to another level. This is the best overall season of Supergirl to date in some regards, mostly notably when it comes to Reign as the Big Bad. For the first time it feels as though Kara has a real challenge, someone who is both physically her equal and doesn’t seem capable of being reasoned with. This is where we kick off some of our expectations for the new year.

1. Up the ante with Reign – It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that the Worldkiller would be at her best in such a short period of time after her transformation. She should become harder to beat as she becomes more acclimated to her surroundings. With that, the team should have to get even more resourceful in trying to figure out the right way in which to beat her.

2. Give Winn a great story – Since we don’t seem to be touching on Lyra all that much right now, is there something else that the writers could throw out there? We know that Laurie Metcalf is going to be coming on board soon as Winn’s mother, but beyond that there really isn’t all that much known about the storyline coming up. We’re hoping that the producers jump at the opportunity to allow him to take a more active role.

3. More members of the Legion of Super-Heroes – Other than Mon-El, Imra, and potentially Brainiac-5 in the near future, there aren’t too many other members turning up just yet. We’re assuming that there are more, so why not introduce them?

4. Be patient with Alex – While we know she and Sara hooked up during the Crisis on Earth-X crossover, we wouldn’t rush her to get into another long-term relationship right now. She’s still trying to find herself after what happened with Maggie, and that is a journey that should take a great deal of time. It’s perfectly fine that it does. It’s human, in fact.

5. Tease up the season 4 villain – While it’s not 100% at the moment that there will be a Supergirl season 4, that’s the assumption we are willing to make. A big part of what made the Reign story work was because the writers were aware of the fact that the character was coming. They could prepare for it. Doing this again would do the show wonders.
