The Bachelor spotlight: Jacqueline Trumbull wants a Ph.D, SoHo apartment

Jacqueline Trumbull

As a contender on The BachelorJacqueline Trumbull should be one of the more interesting contestants. She’s one of the more intellectual women given that she has Ph.D. aspirations, she’s representing New York City this season (though she’s originally from West Virginia), and she looks almost like Courtney Robertson from Ben Flajnik’s season with Emilia Clarke’s eyebrows.

Based on her ABC bio we know that she works as a research coordinator and, apparently, wants both a SoHo apartment and also a pet cheetah. For the record, it feels like one of the last places in which you’d want a pet cheetah is New York City. Where in the world are you going to walk/run that thing? Sure, they sleep most of the day, but still. She also wants to work at a wild animal conservation in India or Africa, so she has some charitable goals that go beyond the average contestant on this show.

If you go over to her Instagram you see someone who feels fairly normal — there’s not a million beach/modeling photos suggesting that she’s there to boost her career or to start hawking various makeup kits. She advertises that she’s a part of the show but not obnoxiously so. We could see her being friendly with some of the other women but our feeling is that the moment she mentions wanting a Ph.D. that they will suddenly be intimidated by her. As long she doesn’t go the “emotional intelligence” direction a la Taylor Nolan last season, we do still think that she will be fine. The most important priority for Jacqueline is just that she finds a way to let Arie Luyendyk Jr. know her true self early, since she’s probably not going to be one of those hyper-aggressive people desperate for screen time/to steal him away.

What are her chances? – Admittedly, probably not that great. Jacqueline is one of those people, like Sharleen on Juan Pablo’s season, who make us wonder why they are there in the first place. Why does she need this aggravation? It seems like she’s already got a career path for herself. The big issue we foresee with Jacqueline and Arie is just that we don’t foresee her caring the slightest for his racing career and they don’t seem to have all that much in common.
